JAMES S. CURTIS (“JIM”)
Suffering an injury can have devastating, life-long effects. Trust me, I know. At the age of nine, I suffered a serious neck injury in a motor vehicle accident. Like most nine year olds though, I was resilient and able to continue on with my life for many years without much difficulty. However, as I’ve grown older, the effects of that injury still haunt me. That’s why when an insurance company tells me that my client’s permanent injury isn’t serious, or that it has little value, I take that personally.
Despite my history, I never actually wanted to become an injury lawyer. In fact, after working a short time as a criminal prosecutor, I spent the next almost 10 years of my legal career representing insurance companies. In doing so, I witnessed first-hand how these companies would routinely mistreat and take advantage of injured people during their greatest time of need.
When you’ve suffered an injury, you are overwhelmed with uncertainty and at your most vulnerable. Insurance companies know this, and they take advantage of it. Having personally witnessed this and the effects that this has on a person who has been injured through no fault of their own, I take that even more personally. I became a personal injury lawyer to stop this.
What I do as personal injury lawyer affects people’s lives, and the lives of their families. Fighting to hold an insurance company accountable is the most rewarding thing I can do for an injury victim and their family. This is why I have since dedicated my career to helping good people who experience life-changing injuries at the hands of another person or business.
I live with my wife, Dina, and our three children, James, Tyler, and Grace. We are proud residents of Apollo Beach, the heart of Tampa’s SouthShore region.
